RTX seeks visionary, action-oriented people to lead the RTX digital transformation as part of the Model-based Digital Thread Process Capability Center (MBDT PCC).
The MBDT PCC is a specialized, corporate-level organization that works with engineering groups from across our business units to accelerate the development and adoption of digital engineering methods and tools.
We work with teams that design jet engines, radars, missiles, and more from a diverse portfolio of RTX programs as the company transforms its engineering culture and approach.
As the Model-Based Digital Thread (MBDT) Engineer you will be responsible for using your understanding of model-based system engineering and semantic technologies to define and support the building of technology demonstrators that meet stakeholder needs across engineering, manufacturing, service, and aftermarket organizations.
You will collaborate with technical experts from multiple RTX business units and Corporate functions to define and develop clear technology demonstration plans and manage requirements with the methods, modeling, and toolchain teams.
You will also lead and / or support the transfer, adoption and injection of the built model-based digital thread technology demonstrators into business unit capabilities and production programs.
As part of this role, you will engage and build relationships with business owners and technology experts from across all RTX divisions in the engineering, operations, and services value streams.
What You Will Do
Contribute to the definition, development and adoption of digital engineering capabilities across engineering, manufacturing, service, and aftermarket organizations.
Engage in technical discussions with both internal and external technical stakeholders to articulate use cases and identify needed digital engineering capabilities.
Contribute to the development of ontologies enabling data interoperability across the product lifecycle
Support the design, implementation and management of Knowledge Graphs
Support projects to demonstrate seamless linking of as-designed through as-maintained data and models.
Collaborate with teams across RTX Business Units to define the platform technologies required to support digital twin development and operation
Document and communicate research and best practices in presentation files, white papers, and publications.
Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications You Must Have :
Working knowledge in advanced software, data modeling and architecture, model-based technology development, data transformation, data linking and search technology
General knowledge in model-based engineering processes for the development, production and maintenance of complex cyber-physical system in the Aerospace & Defense domain
Understanding of modeling and analysis of complex systems with different levels of fidelity, including modeling of structural and fluid dynamics, model based system engineering and behavioral modeling
Understanding of model-based technologies, data factories, engineering and manufacturing data systems.
Working knowledge in MBSE software such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, or Rational Rhapsody.
Working knowledge of Semantic Web modeling languages (RDF / s, OWL), query languages (SPARQL) and validation standards (SHACL)
Working knowledge of open-source and commercial ontology engineering editors (e.g. Protege, Mobi, TopQuadrant products, PoolParty)
Working knowledge of semantic data / knowledge graph platforms (e.g., Cambridge Semantics, Stardog, Jena)
Industrial experience in developing taxonomy / ontology to support enterprise use cases
Experience in working with key internal and external Business & Technology stakeholders
Ability to quickly understand complex processes and communicate them in simple language
Strong business focus and analytical skills
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Qualifications We Prefer :
Exposure to industrial standards and state of the art for reference data modeling across the product lifecycle
Good connection with leading research groups and advanced technology initiatives
INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification
OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Language™ (SysML®) Professional (OCSMP)
Education & Experiences :
Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years industrial experience on ontology, data modeling or information architecture with at least 3+ years in conceptual and logical information / meta-data modeling

Typically requires :
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering / Other Technical Positions :
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws / regulations.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
