Purpose of the Position :
The Research Scientist III will provide geospatial and information technology assistance and specialization for the Inter-Agency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) in the Earth Systems Science Center.
The candidate will be expected to work on data science issues in research and operational frameworks.
Duties / Responsibilities
- The candidate will develop and implement software across multiple projects.
- Communicate in written and oral format with UAH and NASA IMPACT team members.
- Present at major conferences.
- Write peer-reviewed publications.
- Write reports as needed.
Minimum Requirements :
- Master's degree in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- 2.5 - 3 years of full-time verifiable work experience
- Proven experience in database creation and management for atmospheric applications
- Proven record of publishing peer-reviewed papers
- Extensive experience in using remote sensing data for earth-atmosphere applications
- Experience in Data Visualization and Machine learning
Desired Qualifications :
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience is preferred
- Experience in working with Google Earth Engine for earth-atmosphere applications is desired
- Proposal writing experience is preferred
- Experience in projects related to climate science applications is desired
