JFCS is seeking a dynamic, creative, collaborative Clinical Manager for UpStreet, a barrier-free mental health program for youth ages 12-22.

UpStreet, established in 2020 during the pandemic, is seeking its first Clinical Manager who will supervise and support licensed and pre-licensed therapists and graduate interns, participate in case reviews, and provide brief intervention services both virtually and in-person.

The Clinical Manager must have experience working with youth and young adults, be trained in suicide prevention, trauma, and other mental health interventions tailored to this population’s unique needs.

The Clinical Manager will have oversight and interaction with all aspects of UpStreet services, including, but not limited to, the Youth Advisory Board, the text-based Peer Mentoring program, as well as interacting with clients who drop in '' for brief interventions both on-site and online.

About JFCS and UpStreet

UpStreet, a unique, barrier-free intervention for youth and young adults, is an accessible, stigma-free, program that allows youth to drop in , whether in person at our physical location in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, or online, via a chat feature on the UpStreetpgh.

org website. UpStreet therapists provide psychotherapy, brief support, and group work, as well as community projects and interventions, as needed.

Services are provided either virtually or in-person, depending on client needs. UpStreet is part of the JFCS Youth Services department.

UpStreet is co-located with and designed to collaborate closely with :

  • Bridge Builders, an afterschool program for newly arrived refugee youth ages 6-18, as well as,
  • 412 Futures, a career development program for high school youth with barriers to support.

JFCS is known as a local leader in providing innovative and effective social service solutions to problems facing families and individuals of all ages and walks of life.

Support ranges from counseling services, career services, guardianship services, immigration legal services, refugee and immigrant services, scholarship services and the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry.

Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Minimum requirement of Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field.
  • Fully licensed in Commonwealth of PA for three years and eligible for insurance credentialing (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD).
  • Meet the requirements of an eligible Supervisor per the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors.
  • Previous experience providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience in a clinical setting treating children, youth and families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels with co-workers, family members, and other service providers.
  • Cultural fluency and humility are essential for providing trauma informed interventions for our diverse client base.
  • Experience working with historically excluded populations and community-based service delivery.
  • Fluency in a second language is a benefit.
  • Experience in data collection processes, tracking, impact management and / or research is a benefit.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.
  • Available for on-call duties on weekends and evenings for virtual brief support services.

Responsibilities for Clinical Services :

  • Provide counseling for preteens, teens, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Supervise intake evaluations, as well as interpreting diagnostic assessments that assist in the formulation of an appropriate diagnosis.
  • Oversee the provision of open and topical support groups and group therapy.
  • Supervise and provide Brief Support intervention and other short-term interventions for populations served.
  • Participate and present cases for review and discussion with the other professional staff of JFCS Youth Services and JFCS Counseling Departments.
  • Provide written progress notes for all client interactions.
  • Provide documentation of treatment plans and treatment plan reviews, in accordance with JFCS policies.

Responsibilities for Training and Consultation :

  • Participate in the development of training seminars, workshops, and presentations to JFCS staff and other educators, youth workers, and mental health professionals.
  • Support the adults in our clients’ lives with information, resources, and coaching.
  • Provide ongoing and specialized consultation and skill development activities for service providers as requested.
  • Facilitate community-based presentations in coordination with other therapeutic staff.

Responsibilities for Administration

  • Provide clinical supervision to UpStreet therapists and interns.
  • Provide administrative supervision to UpStreet staff, including scheduling, completion of case notes, caseload assignments, and treatment plans.
  • Create and support a structure that encourages and provides for the productive and impactful clinical work of all therapists and interns.
  • Conduct Utilization Reviews.
  • Assist with the oversight of clinical data and outcomes, as it pertains to medical documentation and insurance and grant-based reporting requirements. .
  • Supervise and approve timesheets for clinical team and interns on a monthly basis.
  • Liaise with the billing department as necessary.
  • Be available for office hours, including evenings, at the Youth Services physical location and help to provide brief support services for walk-ins.
  • Participate in JFCS organizational opportunities and trainings.
