Summary
Dunmore is looking for a driven and analytical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship is suitable for students majoring in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering who are interested in exploring advanced technologies and engineering solutions.
The intern will work on a variety of research projects, including automated material handling solutions, online coat weight measuring systems, vacuum metallizers, and IoT applications for legacy equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research and vetting of automated material (roll) handling solutions to identify potential technologies and systems for implementation.
- Analyze different solutions for their efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compatibility with existing systems.
- Research current industry offerings for online coat weight measuring systems.
- Evaluate and compare different systems based on performance, accuracy, and integration capabilities.
- Investigate current industry offerings for vacuum metallizers equipped with in-line coating capabilities.
- Assess the technology options available and their potential benefits for our processes.
- Explore IoT possibilities, applications, and sensor technologies for enhancing legacy equipment.
- Develop recommendations for integrating IoT solutions to improve monitoring, data collection, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in team meetings and workshops to gain insights into plant operations and industry best practices.
- Travel and connect with interns from across the company at the Steel Partners intern summit.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities :
- Strong analytical skills with a keen interest in researching and evaluating engineering technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with basic engineering principles and research methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present research findings clearly.
Education and Experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework related to automation, sensors, or industrial systems.
- Knowledge of IoT technologies and their applications in industrial settings.
- Understanding of material handling systems and coating processes.
