The current VP is retiring with 42 years of service, leadership, and program expansion, establishing MHC as a state leader and partner in providing effective juvenile justice services.

What will you do as Methodist Home for Children’s Vice President of Program Development and Contracts?

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Program Development and Contracts will provide leadership and supervision in developing, negotiating, and nurturing agency contracts.

They will also oversee the management of contracts, external consultation services, higher education programs, and quality improvement evaluation.

The position directly supervises the Senior Director of Consultation and Program Development and the Director of Quality Improvement.

  • Supervise and manage the consumer relations department.
  • Oversee agency contracts, supervising contract development, annual service, budget, and outcome reports to contract agencies.

Assure contract compliance.

  • Provide direction and leadership for contract identification, development, and negotiation consistent with the agency’s mission.
  • Enhance Methodist Home for Children’s relationship with state, county, private agencies, and organizations offering child and family services contracts.
  • Supervise the development and initial implementation of new service ventures until integration with the agency’s general program services.
  • Oversee the agency’s consulting work.
  • Provide direction and supervision support for the MHC Higher Education and Learning Program and quality improvement.
  • Provide recommendations to the President on relevant operations, program development opportunities, and fiscal matters.
  • Oversee the evaluation of the key performance measure and quality assurance for the agency.
  • Serve on MHC’s 5-member leadership team.
  • Participate in and provide staff support to the Board of Directors and attend Board meetings.

Key lived experiences, attributes, and skillsets sought in the Vice President of Program Development and Contracts

  • Leadership experience (7+ years) administering child and family welfare programs or other equivalent management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or business
  • Considerable knowledge in contract procurement, negotiation, and management
  • Strength in child welfare program development, juvenile justice, and evaluation with experience as a practitioner
  • Experience in lobbying and working with the NC Legislature is preferred
  • Experience in the Teaching Family Model is preferred
  • Proven ability to express strategy, analysis, and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to provide clarity and knowledge when speaking publicly
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, embrace innovation, and implement tactically

Salary is commensurate with the requirements of the position with a range of $120,000 to $140,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, health savings account, flexible spending account, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, retirement plan, accrued vacation and sick time, and 11 paid holidays.

Position is subject to a credit history and background check. Must maintain a good credit history. Must be insurable by MHC’s insurance carrier.
