Duties
- You will operate a central switchboard to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain correct voltage on distribution lines.
- You will diagnose malfunctions in electrical circuits on power distribution equipment.
- You will check and adjust steam output capacity and electrical generation to meet varying loads.
- You will monitor data from wattmeters, voltmeters, and ammeters of feeders to ensure equipment is operating correctly.
- You will adjust controls to regulate the flow of electric power.

- The Screen-out Element for this position is : ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following : 1) Operating power generation and distribution systems supporting a myriad of industrial and residential operations on the Naval base;
- 2) Operating control panels that allow remote starting of diesel engine powered generators as well as monitoring commercial power and conversion to auxiliary power systems;
- 3) Monitoring of voltage and amperage and make exacting adjustments to the system to assure adequate power for load demands;
- 4) Reading / analyzing a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal conditions such as, circuit overloads, improper line voltages, or equipment temperature;
and 5) Determining the causes of these abnormal conditions and make necessary corrections by adjusting controls.
