Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Policy & Compliance Manager to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policy and compliance programs and initiatives that ensure our organization's adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
This role will oversee and effectively manage HR compliance and provide thought leadership, project management as well as day to day hands-on operational support.
This role will manage federal and state legislative changes that impact Thomson Reuters in order to ensure compliance.
About the Role
In this opportunity as HR Policy & Compliance Manager, your key responsibilities will be :
Compliance Program Management :
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR compliance programs and initiatives that ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including but not limited to : Paid Leave laws;
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulations;
State and local employment laws and regulations
- Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor and analyze changes in employment laws, regulations, and industry standards, and advise management on necessary actions to ensure compliance.
Policy Development and Maintenance :
- Develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with HR team members, management, and other stakeholders to ensure policies are effective and aligned with business objectives.
- Maintain a centralized policy tracker and ensure that all policies are easily accessible to employees.
Training and Awareness :
- Develop and implement compliance training programs for employees and management to ensure awareness and understanding of HR compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on HR-related compliance matters.
Risk Management and Reporting :
- Identify and mitigate HR-related compliance risks and report findings to HR and management.
- Develop and maintain compliance reports and metrics to track and measure compliance performance.
Other Responsibilities :
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports, including compliance reports and policy documentation.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and recommend improvements to HR policies and procedures.
About You
You're a fit for the role of HR Policy & Compliance Manager if your background includes :
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5-8+ years of experience in HR policy development, compliance, and employee relations.
- Demonstrated ability in the application of that knowledge in the creation and effective administration of policies and programs that mitigate company risk.
- Strong knowledge of HR Compliance including federal, state and local employment laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Experience with audits
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems (e.g., Workday).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
- Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work with other departments (e.g., Legal, Audit, Risk Management) and external partners (e.
g., law firms, consultants).
