The MSRB Staff Auditoris responsibleforassisting theMSRB Audit Supervisor and MSRB Sr. Auditortocomplete internal andexternalaudits,operationalreviewsandinthe maintenanceof theorganizationalsystemof internal controls.

PURPOSEOFTHEPOSITION

Worksasa member of theinternalauditteamto reviewthe Massachusetts StateBoardof Retirement's ("MSRB") processes forefficiency, effectiveness andadequacy of controls.

Assists MSRB Audit Supervisor and MSRB Sr. Auditor to conduct compliance, operational andfinancial reviews and audits;documenton findings, recommendationsand agreed-upon corrective actions.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSANDRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible forassisting MSRB Audit Supervisor and MSRB Sr. Auditortoperform audits andoperational reviews and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Interviews appropriate personnel; determine requirements and obtains, verifies, and analyzes available data;observes actualpractices, evaluates functional operating techniques and identifies existing or potential problem areas.
  • AssistsintheTreasuryandMSRB'sriskassessment.
  • AssiststomaintainandcommunicatechangesforMSRBandenterprisesystemaccesses.
  • Sharesbestpracticesandprovidesvalueaddrecommendations.
  • AssiststocompletesspecialreviewsattherequestofMSRBandTreasury.
  • Performsother duties asassigned, includingdutiesrelated to operational audits in assigned areasof MSRBorfunctions.
  • Assists MSRB staff with external audits requests
  • Assists MSRB staff with annual Internal Control Plan and policy updates

Qualifications

EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS

  • BS / BA(orequivalent)in Accounting
  • CIAnotrequired,butstronglypreferred.
  • 1-2years internal or external audit experience; work associated withretirement plan benefits or in a similar or related field preferred.
  • Knowledgeableinprofessionalaccountingprinciples.

KNOWLEDGEANDSKILLS

  • Abilityto develop workingknowledgeof Massachusetts GeneralLawChapter32and MSERS plan rules.
  • FamiliaritywithCOSO,complexorganizationalstructuresandinformationtechnology.
  • ExperiencewithOffice365,SharePoint,Microsoft Word,Excel,Access,Visio, Teams.Knowledge of ACLorother data analytic software.
  • Excellentcommunication,inter-personalandorganizationalskills.Demonstratedeffectiveverbal andwritten communication skills.
  • Detailoriented, 'bigpicture' thinker.Abletounderstand the process and its relationship with other processes, departments and Commonwealthagencies.
