The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing complex data systems using SQL Server and PanAgora's proprietary business analytics and workflow tools.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of IT, this role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, develop scalable data solutions, and maintain high data quality and accuracy.
The Data Engineer will also be tasked with developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes, monitoring and troubleshooting data issues, and documenting data models and procedures to ensure consistency and maintainability.
ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS :
- Design and develop complex data systems using SQL Server and PanAgora's proprietary business analytics and workflow tool to meet business requirements and ensure efficient data processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and develop solutions that align with business goals.
- Optimize and tune existing data systems for improved performance and scalability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data issues, identify root causes, and implement timely and effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into PanAgora's proprietary data warehouse.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy by implementing data validation and quality checks.
- Document data models, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintain coding standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Version control, release planning, and deployment preparation.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- 5+ years in investment management industry.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Finance; extensive relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Strong knowledge and experience in investment management domain, including investment products, asset classes, and investment strategies.
- Strong experience in implementation of efficient ETL and ELT processes for large data sets, preferably with market and custodial providers
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Proven understanding of data modeling and various data management concepts such as master data management, reference data management, data governance, data lineage, data catalog, data audit capability, data quality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and derive meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A strong desire to document and share work done to aid in long term support.
- Works well in a collaborative team environment.
- Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
- Experience with portfolio accounting systems such as Geneva is a strong plus.
- Experience with Git is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
