The Area Manager manages the staff responsible for cleaning buildings, or other facilities. The foremost responsibility of a janitorial area manager is to ensure that the facility is cleaned correctly and according to the client's instructions or standards.

To accomplish that goal, managers inspect the facility to determine any unusual or cyclical work that needs to be done. By managing day-to-day activities, analyzing statistics and reading and writing reports, area managers play a vital role in the company.

Area Managers work full-time doing standard office hours, but evenings and at weekends may be necessary, especially during big projects, periods of change or opening of a new account.

The Area Manager position is a role which involves overseeing the production of goods and / or provision of services. It’s an area manager's job to make sure an account is running as well as it possibly can, with a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of customers and clients.

He / she will make sure such as periodically stripping floor and waxing vct floors, cleaning or shampooing carpets, windows cleaning are completed.

Managers maintain a checklist of routine or daily cleaning chores as well. They assign workers to specific chores or areas and then inspect the work to ensure it has been done satisfactorily.

If the client has complaints about missed or improperly cleaned areas, the area manager investigates / find the facts about the complaint and takes steps to ensure that the problem will not recur.

The Area Manager will make sure or will make every effort to have high cleaning standards on all sites. In order to ensure these high cleaning standards are implemented and maintained on a regular basis he / she would conduct random site inspections (weekly / monthly / as needed) with a written evaluation form generated.

The purpose of these janitorial inspections / evaluations process is to manage the assess on the level of service being provided, thereby having a high cleaning standard at all times will prevent from our customers to complaint or even worse, cancel the contract / cleaning services.

Area Managers will typically handle many personnel duties. They often interview applicants, help train new employees. If disciplinary action is needed, it is normally the manager's responsibility to report immediately to his superior, Operations Manager and / or C.

E.O. Issuing of reprimands, counseling employees about their performance, or determine whether additional training is required, and / or, if necessary, terminate the employee will be decision of C.

E.O. / President. Area Managers may prepare work schedules, as well as track employee attendance and report hours worked to the payroll department.

Specifically, the job requirements are to : 1. Oversee all crews 2. Visit all sites on a continuous base. 3. Be responsible to order all supplies and materials and monitor the inventory.

4. Monitor the time worked of all his / her employees. 5. Monitor the behavior of all his / her employees. 6. Revise the schedule to reflect callouts.

7. Planning and controlling changes on sites. 8. Managing quality assurance programmes. 9. Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency.

10. Setting and reviewing budgets and managing cost. 11. Overseeing inventory, distribution of goods and facility layout.

12. Control / Avoid any O.T.
