Course Description : MOCK TRIAL STRATEGY & PRACTICE - 2 credits - Fall 2023
In this class, you will learn the fundamentals associated with trying a jury case. You will learn how to conduct each phase of the trial from opening statements to closing arguments and everything in between.
There will be a focus on the use of trial evidence which will serve as a good supplement to a regular evidence class. This is very much a learning-by-doing environment, and you will be required to participate in class work to demonstrate your understanding of the assignment.
It cannot be emphasized enough that grading will not be based on overall skill, but instead focused on individual improvement throughout the semester.
This class will also serve as a springboard into competing on the Law School's Mock Trial teams.
Although this class is focused on trial practice, it is beneficial to all students regardless of their anticipated career path.
Through the semester, you will learn how to synthesize, sort, and present ideas in a persuasive fashion to your audience.
Salary : $2,000
Required Qualifications : J.D.; at least three years of practice experience, and prior law teaching experience preferred.
