Staff Network Systems Administrator

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers.

Mercer Engineering Research Center is recruiting for a Staff Network Systems Administratior in the Network Systems and Information Assurance Directorate.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Resolves problems regarding Linux and Windows server operating systems, application software and hardware operation.
• Manages prescribed server disaster recover schemes, system capacity planning and user data management.
• Enters commands, conducts server diagnostics, and observes system performance to verify accurate operations and identify errors.
• Sets up servers and ensures proper installation and configuration of hardware, tape libraries, disk arrays and operating systems.
• Manages server and PC system patch update schedules and corrective action.
• Maintains and performs problem resolution of Windows Active Directory structure.
• Maintains records of daily support requests to include problems, corrective actions taken, and installation activities.
• Coordinates major hardware or software resolution with vendors for service.
• Communicates with users and the Manager, Network Systems to establish requirements for problem resolutions, new systems or
• modifications.
• Responsible for support and execution of the implementation of Security controls and other tasks as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• US Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
• An undergraduate degree in a related field and 3 years of directly related experience; or a high school diploma and 5 years of directly
• related experience.
• Demonstrated technical experience with Linux and Windows server computer hardware, operating systems and application software,
• including Red Hat 7 and 8, Windows Server 2016 and 2019 and networking parameters.
• Ability to install, repair, and troubleshoot server hardware, software, peripheral devices, disk arrays and tape libraries.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Service oriented and able to communicate and interface with users, peers, and vendors.
• Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural
• documentation, Security vulnerabilities
• Security + or similar certification
• Two years of Linux Systems Administration
