Position Summary : The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively fabricate, install and / or commission various types of paint finishing equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Utilize a computer aided design (CAD) system to create drawings - 2D, 3D
• Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
• Travel to local customer sites and participate in field measurements
• Maintain project schedules
• Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers and customers
• Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
• Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
• Attend and contribute to design review meetings
• Interpret mechanical drawings
• Travel approximately 25%

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
• 5 or more years of experience
• Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
• Strong skills in math and geometry
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D, 3D, ReCap, Revit, Navisworks, Micostation a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office : Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
• Good time management skills
• Good organizational skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Good technical writing skills
• Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
• Able to work well independently and in a team environment
• Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions
• Adaptable to change in a learning environment
• Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner
• Willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary

Physical Demands : While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms.

Employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
