Role Summary
This position has the responsibility to coordinate ORU robustness testing and support the release statements for the vehicles sold in the North American market which will support over the air updates.
This will be achieved by static testing using test boards and simulators.Responsibilities include organizing and reporting ORU Robustness testing status from start to finish (from project schedule, test preparation and test procedure, through test reports and approvals), and supporting testing via vehicle updates and other miscellaneous testing support.
Role Responsibilities :
ORU Robustness Software Validation and Reporting (50%)
- As needed coordinates test plan with partners to ensure proper testing and resources are planned
- Plans and organizes needed parts and vehicles
- Assures that all test information is provided, ensuring relevance to the region
- Ensures that all test orders are performed on each component / control module in each of the necessary vehicle and powertrain configurations for defined test phases
- Creates regular status reports as requested by partner teams
- Supports release recommendation for ORU Robustness for software and hardware tested
Error Resolution (30%)
- Ensures complete documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on electrical communication errors during the launch phase of vehicles which will support ORU.
- Ensures error documentation uploads to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution
- Provides regular reports of failure ticket status to partners in VWAG and Chattanooga
- Attends the Fehlerrunde and Task Force meetings as needed in order to resolve failure tickets quickly
Vehicle Updates and Configuration Tracking (10%)
- Testing over-the-air updates of various vehicle control modules
- Trouble-shooting as necessary
- Updating our test vehicle fleet via hardware installations, software updates, etc.
- Tracking / updating the vehicle configurations in our tracking systems
Mentorship / Coaching (10%)
- Provides guidance, advice, feedback and support to the team members with less experience
- Ensures specialized knowledge and team processes are well documented
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Years of Experience :
5+ years of experience with automotive electronic system testing
Education Required :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
Education Desired :
Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Specialized Skills Required :
- Experience testing automotive control modules
- Experience with automotive control module root cause analysis
- Understanding of vehicle communication networks and the ability to capture traces
- Experience with electric vehicle system architectures
- Ability to trouble-shoot communication breakdowns within the network by analyzing the network communication
Specialized Skills Desired :
- Experience testing / releasing full vehicle electrical systems (module and functional testing)
- Experience with Volkswagen electronics control modules
Work Flexibility :
- Monday Friday with occasional overtime for evening and weekends
- Readiness for 20%-30% domestic and international travel
- Readiness for professional training in the US, Germany, Mexico (for extended training periods)
