Aquinas Consulting has an immediate need to fill an experienced Procurement Specialist job at a growing manufacturer of Industrial Machinery in the Milford, CT area.
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for managing the company's procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
This role requires strategic planning, strong negotiation skills, excellent communication abilities, and an understanding of supply chain management.
For candidates with more extensive experience this role could become a Procurement Manager role.
Procurement Specialist Job responsibilities :
- Strategic Sourcing / Vendor Management :
- Identify / evaluate potential suppliers.
- Develop / implement sourcing strategies to meet business needs.
- Establish / maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing to secure the best deals.
- Monitor supplier performance
- Purchase Order Processing & Management :
- Process purchase requisitions and convert them into purchase orders.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of purchase orders.
- Track and manage orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Inventory Control :
- Collaborate with the supply chain and inventory team to monitor stock levels, prevent shortages and / or overstock situations.
- Ensure inventory levels meet production and operational needs.
- Cost Management :
- Analyze price fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality.
- Compliance and Documentation :
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and correspondence.
- Process Improvement :
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- ERP System Utilization :
- Utilize NetSuite ERP for managing requisitions, purchase orders, inventory tracking, and other procurement activities.
- Generate reports and analyze data to support decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Work closely with other departments, such as Engineering, Machinists, etc to understand their needs and support their goals.
- Risk Management :
- Identify risks & develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain due to long lead times, etc.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in NetSuite ERP (or other ERP system) and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint).
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
- Positive attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
