The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Director of Project Managementfor the Central Services office located in Knoxville, TN.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Director of Project Managementis responsible forleading and overseeing the successful delivery of multiple projects within the ACE ecosystem, our next generation Advancement Technology infrastructure.
This role will collaborate with stakeholders and ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope and within budget, while maintaining quality standards.
The purpose of this role is to understand and communicate project priorities and identify the necessary tools and resources to achieve project goals.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Project and Process Management Leadership : Management of the Foundation’s IT project portfolio involving facilitating planning and prioritization of complex, systemwide efforts, often requiring signification business process or technology changes.
Directs development and implementation of IT project management methodologies to enhance project scheduling, resource estimation, and benefit analysis while also fostering a culture of innovation by continuously improving practices.
Perform project management on high- profile efforts, including stakeholder identification, project planning, issue tracking and applying best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
Internal Communication and Stakeholder Engagement : Communicate frequently with team members and senior business stakeholders regarding project status to identify and resolve project problems, issues and risks.
Identify when issues or risks require escalation to senior leadership and proactively communicate potential impact on the overall project.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across advancement services, Department, Communications, Donor Relations, and other departments.
Act as a liaison between project teams and stakeholders, facilitating communications, resolving conflicts, and managing expectations.
Create clear and engaging communications materials related to project management. Serve as the central point of contact for disseminating information related to projects and departmental updates.
Performance Measurement and Reporting : Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for projects and initiatives.
Analyze project performance data, prepare regular reports, and present findings to leadership and stakeholders. Identify trends, insights and areas for improvement based on performance data, recommending adjustments to project strategies of need.
Ensure project outcomes align with organizational goals and contribute to the overall success of UT Foundation.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
The candidate who fills the Director of Project Managementposition is required to have :
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related field
- 5+ years of experience using project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet, Trello, MS Planner, and showcase progressive IT management experience, to include IT service management, solutions implementation, project management, operations management, and project leadership.
- Successfully manage complex, cross functional projects
- Manage fundraising CRM solution
- Ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively
- Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills
- Ability to manage change in a large organization, particularly as it relates to information systems conversations
- Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to recognize opportunities to identify crucial, high return activities, prioritize them to attain goals, and implement appropriate changes to programs
- Proficient in essential software, including MS Office
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.
In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
Preferred Education and Experience
In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have :
- Master’s Degree
- 7+ years of experience using project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet, Trello, MS Planner, and showcase progressive IT management experience, to include IT service management, solutions implementation, project management, operations management, and project leadership.
- Experience in university advancement, higher education or related field
