An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Geriatrician to join the Medical Services team at Portland District Health.

The primary role is to provide medical care to patients as a geriatrician while sharing responsibility with the team across acute, sub-acute and aged care and working effectively to continuously improve and develop the service.

About you :

  • A tertiary qualification, Certificate, Registration, or Licence in the appropriate medical speciality.
  • Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Undergraduate medical qualification as a first degree is essential MBBD MD or equivalent
  • Appropriate speciality qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent is essential
  • Must have a proven track record of excellence in aged care with a demonstrated commitment to continued improvement, teamwork and ideally research
  • Must have a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to education of themselves, their colleagues, junior staff, other team members and medical students
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to organisational quality processes and other activities that improve patient care
  • Solid knowledge of aged care with skills to manage complex patients
  • Previous experience in the gerontology area.

The successful applicant will be required to be eligible for and undergo the following :

  • Police Record Check
  • Current Victorian Working with Children's check
  • Current Immunisation status. This role must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and meet the requirements of the Portland District Health Immunisation Policy.
