Real estate legal assistant needed for a growing law firm located downtown Chicago. The law firm offers a competitive compensation package and a friendly team!
The legal assistant must have strong technical skills. Responsibilities include :
- Organizing and maintaining documents and files related to real estate transactions.
- Assisting in the preparation of legal documents such as deeds, leases, and mortgages.
- Coordinating and setting up appointments, meetings, and conferences for lawyers and clients.
- Conducting property and legal research and compiling data for attorneys.
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents under lawyer's supervision.
- Obtaining signatures from clients on necessary documents.
- Assisting in real estate closings, reviewing closing documents for accuracy.
- Coordinating with real estate agents, lenders, and title companies.
- Managing deadlines and ensuring all legal processes are met on time.
- Managing and updating client records in accordance with law firm policies.
- Answering phone calls, taking messages, and routing calls to appropriate legal staff.
- Interpreting laws, regulations, or policies related to real estate transactions.
- Notarizing documents and coordinating the execution of significant papers.
- Assisting in billing tasks by keeping track of legal fees and charges.
