The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ( HIDTA ) program is a federally funded, multi-jurisdictional law enforcement support program whose mission is to apply enhanced intelligence processes and greater operational coordination and prosecution to reduce organized drug distribution, drug related violent crime and money laundering, and the demand for illegal drugs within the North Central HIDTA area of responsibility by dismantling / disrupting Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) and reducing the demand for illicit drugs.
The North Central HIDTA strives to halt the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the 15 HIDTA -designated counties in Wisconsin, Minnesota and beyond.

This position is contingent on annual renewal of federal grant funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy ( ONDCP ), and on satisfactory performance as determined by the North Central HIDTA Executive Director.
Job Summary
The North Central HIDTA (NC HIDTA ) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Assistant / Office Manager.
North Central HIDTA serves as a coordinating and collaborating organization and supports efforts to identify, investigate, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking and drug money laundering enterprises and related violence.
This position is funded by a federal grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy / High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ( HIDTA ).
The position will be located at the North Central HIDTA facility in West Allis, WI.
Summary : The Executive Assistant (EA) provides professional support to the Executive Director in overseeing the North Central High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ( HIDTA ), a federal program aimed at significantly reducing drug-related activity in designated areas.
This position requires an in-depth understanding of the HIDTA program, its policies, and the state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies involved.
The Director’s office is dedicated to offering timely and accurate support to participating law enforcement agencies and the Office of National Drug Control Policy ( ONDCP ) in Washington, D.C.
The EA is responsible for assisting the HIDTA Director with ensuring all program requirements are completed and submitted to ONDCP in a timely manner, including annual reports, strategic projects, proposals, statistical reporting, awards, and regional marketing materials.
Additionally, the EA oversees UWM / HIDTA front desk personnel administration, coordinating maintenance, and general office management of the North Central HIDTA collocated facility.
Managing schedules, appointments, and attendance requests for the Executive Director and Deputy Directors is also part of the EA’s role.
In addition, the EA assists in preparing briefings, presentations, and advisories for the executive leadership team as directed by the Executive Director.
The EA is also responsible for coordinating the onboarding of newly assigned North Central HIDTA personnel, staffs the Executive and Deputy Directors at meetings within the North Central HIDTA program and with external agencies as needed, and arranges accommodations, resources, and meeting space for attendees.
The EA keeps detailed meeting minutes and notes on Executive Board and committee meetings along with objectives and desired outcomes.
The EA also provides summary notes and action items to the executive team with expected timelines for completion. Furthermore, the EA works confidentially with the Executive Director in various aspects of the hiring process for North Central HIDTA personnel.
The EA must exhibit considerable initiative, judgment, and excellent organizational and written skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, often within tight time constraints.
The EA must have a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of professionals in a team-oriented environment is necessary.
Work is carried out independently or under the direction of the Executive Director while maintaining the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and virtual media platforms and ability to quickly learn new program-specific software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to plan, write, and prepare reports, documents, and large-group presentations, as evidenced by application materials.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.
- Willingness and ability to work at the North Central HIDTA facility in West Allis, WI.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with local, state, federal, or tribal law enforcement agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or 60+ college credits preferred
- Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and organize complex tasks with excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional command of English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Outstanding interpersonal and human relations skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Understanding of the HIDTA concept of regional cooperation and experience in implementing it; skilled in briefing senior officials and interacting effectively with state, local, and federal official
- Background working with local, state, federal, or tribal law enforcement agencies.
- Knowledge and experience related to drug law enforcement.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with high accuracy.
- Proven experience in coordinating meetings and managing travel reservations.
- Skilled in developing and organizing meeting agendas.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with individuals at all levels.
- Strong focus on customer service excellence.
- Adaptable and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, technology-driven service environment through innovation and collaboration.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in time-sensitive, mission-critical situations.
- Experience working in collaborative, diverse environments.
- Understanding of group dynamics and interpersonal relationships.
