Started by former NASA engineers, we have created a proprietary technology for perception and lidar lidar sensors. We have an immediate need an Electrical Engineer (firmware / software) with an extensive FPGA background.
This is a FTE role, hybrid out of our Hampton, VA location.

Job Details
Is your background a match?
- BSEE / BSCE, Master's is a plus!
- 6+ years of software or firmware electrical design experience (C / C++)
- Preliminary knowledge with Xilinx Ultrascale+
- Demonstrated knowledge / experience with designing and developing systems using microprocessors (single and / or multi-core), microcontrollers, and FPGAs
- Background with any standard high-speed topologies (1 / 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), PCIe, Fiber Channel, Serial Rapid IO or similar)
- Proficient with serial communications such as : UARTs, SPI, I2C
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing electrical systems and products
- Able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues that arise during testing.
What will you be doing?
- Design, develop, and test complex, high reliability micro-processor, micro-controller and FPGA based systems
- Deliver high quality design, documentation, and implementation that meet defined requirements as well as support products throughout the life cycle
- Oversee lab demonstrations, field tests, and prototypes
- Offline algorithm adaption and coding of complex algorithms
- Low level driver development and implementation, software and firmware design
- High speed electronics and software testing and debugging, high reliability techniques, signal processing, and in-situ, full system testing of instrumentation systems and navigation algorithms
- Collaborate with systems engineering and hardware to define function allocation among software and hardware resources
- Mentor junior engineers related to the study, development, and test of hardware, data system components, and associated equipment.
- Oversee the day-to-day development activities of small design and development teams
