JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensuring resident safety and wellness at all times
- Developing synergy and cultivate a home where all members feel respected and that they are part of a supportive community in the home and at large
- Developing and maintaining positive communication with parents / guardians
- Maintaining accurate time sheets, note taking, documentation and staff checklist completion
- Effectively implement and manage systems and routines, such as menu planning, food shopping, health / wellness, weight management, household calendars, etc.
- Learn medication management system, including documentation and distribution of medication
- Transporting residents to and from programs and activities as needed
- Cultivating and maintaining professional communications and interactions with all parties including residents, parents, day programs and other staff
- Facilitating residents during life skills training such as personal wellness (gym time), laundry skills, personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning and other skills training
- Conducting fire drills and other safety measures for the home
- Other tasks associated with the care and safety or WILO NJ residents as deemed necessary by direct supervisor.
HOURS :
HOURS for this position are flexible but follows this principle structure :
7am to 9am : Obligated for morning supports
3 : 30pm-10pm : Obligated for evening supports
Overnight (sleep) 10pm-7am. Except on days off, EMPLOYEE will sleep at the premises for the benefit of WLO NJ and the residents.
Two days per week are allocated as non-obligated (off) days. 1 Weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) and 1 Weekday (Monday to Friday) may be used as non-obligated time.
At least 1 year experience working with adults with special needs required.
Current driving license and clean driving record required (less than 5 points), along with driving abstract.
Having your own means of transportation. If ever using your own vehicle to transport residents, mileage reimbursement will be provided to you at $0.24 per mile.

A background check, drug testing, and staff mandatory trainings in CPR, Danielle's Law, Stephen Kominos Law, Incident reporting, Prevention of abuse, neglect & exploitation and other trainings mandated by the Division of Developmental Disabilities are required.
