The Facility Maintenance Technician will perform various tasks related to maintaining and repairing utilities equipment and general facility and when needed support the operating lines throughout the Plant.
These tasks include but are not limited to working on general plumbing issues, basic electrical repairs, basic carpentry repairs, basic work heating ventilating and air conditioning units, roof inspection, other facility inspections, assets tagging, floor repairs, overhead doors, and rapid roll doors among others.
Coordinates, schedules, and executes the planned and day-to-day activities relating to General Plant / Facility Maintenance to ensure the plant meets department and overall plant goals of safety, quality, and productivity.
Oversees and when necessary, trains other General Plant Maintenance technicians. All work is to be performed in a manner that complies with all federal, state, local, BRC, and company rules and regulations and with optimum regard for Plant Safety.
Job Duties :
- Schedule and prioritize planned work orders with the day-to-day general facility and plant maintenance issues.
- Record and report on day's activities to Facility's engineer as well as shift handoff meeting.
- Provide directions and when necessary, training to new General Plant Maintenance technicians.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain General Plant equipment and building components such as (overhead roll up, fire doors and pedestrian doors) including lock changes ensuring that they meet food safety regulation and maintain safety integrity.
Maintain office furniture including replacing receptacles and lighting, building lighting, testing, and replacing of exit signs when needed, basic roof repairs with caulk, filter media and coil cleaning of roof top HVAC units, some painting as needed to maintain the building and parking lot appearance, clean plant drains when issues arise and assist outside plumbers on more complex jobs such as hydro jetting.
- Utilize a computer based maintenance systems ( CMMS) to carry out maintenance work
- Coordinate and assist in furniture movement as needed during personnel changes, help with snow shoveling to clear plant entrance and roads during the winter season, and basic landscaping when needed.
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical power components.
- Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments as well as preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Ability to set up and operate metal working equipment such as hand tools, welders, drill press, sheet metal equipment, or grinders.
- Works closely with production and warehouse personnel to effectively resolve and eliminate General Plant problems.
- Works in conjunction with maintenance and production to cross train on system maintenance to obtain adequate coverage across all shifts.
- Assist management in developing standard operating procedures, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance, relating to General Plant equipment operation.
- Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for systems being overseen.
- Performs all other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
- Participates in plant safety, BRC, health and environmental programs.

Qualifications :
- CMRT certification highly preferred
- Prefer Industrial Electrician Certification / Journey man license / HVAC license / Plumbing license
- Prefer 8+ years' experience of facilities maintenance in a food grade facility
- Allen Bradley VFD training preferred
- Prefer experience with fabricating various plastics and metals into various shapes and structures as needed
- Must have positive conflict management skills.
