A driver manager's job is to manage and oversee a portion of a trucking company's fleet of drivers and vehicles. They act as an liaison between the drivers and the company and typically work in operations.
Driver managers are responsible for a variety of tasks, including :
- Managing drivers : Overseeing driver performance, organizing schedules and routes, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Training : Assisting with driver training, and mentoring drivers
- Monitoring the fleet : Ensuring vehicles are in good working order and deliveries are on time.
- Resolving issues : Addressing driver-related issues
- Maintaining documentation : Recording and maintaining driver documentation
- Communication skills
- Computer skills and phone skills
