Supplemental Information : Hourly rate of $70 per hour is equivalent to the base rate of $40 / hour multiplied by the number of hours per course times 1.

75 hours which covers office hours and prep time for instructional activities. Activities conducted outside of teaching (non-instructional), require approval and will be paid at the base hourly rate of $40.

Under the direction of the Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses.

Will require teaching coursesin-person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and / or online during the day, evening, and / or weekend.

Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom / laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education / training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements :

  • Must have a master's degree or higher n English, OR;
  • Master's degree or higher in a related discipline (which may include but is not limited to communications, comparative literature, language arts, writing, journalism, speech, reading, theater arts, or liberal studies) with at least 18 GRADUATE level credits in English studies : Literature, Composition and Rhetoric, Writing, and / or Creative Writing).

A concentration in reading and writing is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications in ADDITION to the Required Minimums :

  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education
  • Previous teaching experience at post secondary or college-level
  • Bilingual Spanish / English fluency

  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and / or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date : This position supports the General Education Pathway we are currently recruiting for our Spring 2025; 16-week classes begin around mid-January.

Hours : This part-time pool position and will require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and / or online during the day, evening, and / or weekend.

Hours, location, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need.

Virtual, outside o the state of Wisconsin, work is NOT available at this time.

Salary : Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching.

Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.

This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY / EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.

HEALTH INSURANCE : MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types :

1- UMR High Level PPO

2- UMR Low Level PPO

Note : All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.

DENTAL INSURANCE : MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.

Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE : MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College.

The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS : If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility.

The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.

9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS : MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS : Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.

VACATION BENEFITS : Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)

PAID HOLIDAYS : MATC offers paid / flex holidays based on position.
