Job Summary : The Nursing Professional Development Generalist designs and conducts educational programs for clinical staff.
Coordinates orientation programs for new staff members, develops programs to keep existing staff up-to-date, and acts as general resource for clinical personnel.
Relies on education, experience, professional training and judgment to accomplish responsibilities. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Works under minimal supervision. May lead and direct the work of others.
Responsibilities
- Education / Training Program
- Provides introductory education and training to all new employees so they may perform their jobs, as well as promoting a positive work environment.
- Develops continuing education for the staff in an effort to enhance the quality of care within the organization.
- Plans and coordinates training activities utilizing educational processes that incorporate adult learning principles.
- Develops and designs appropriate behavioral objectives, lesson plans, teaching tools, training schedules, testing methodology and evaluation tools in order to ensure personnel receive appropriate training for their level of expertise.
- Develops self-study modules to be utilized for orientation as well as yearly competencies.
- Modifies education programs, as needed, based on evaluation data.
2. Quality
- Develops, evaluates and revises educational programs based on current research and trends, evidence based practice and organizational needs.
- Accurate and timely documentation of organizational education into LMS
- Track and trend organizational data to assess organizational needs and competency of staff through appropriate educational programs.
- Develops policies and procedures as needed to improve performance and operations of Organizational Development Department
3. Collaboration & Partnership
- Assesses the educational needs of the organization on an annual basis
- Collaborates with organizational leadership to develop educational programs that ensure staff competency and organizational results.
- Prepares and partners with clinical faculty of contracted agencies for site level education of their students in the clinical setting.
- Promotes and maintains positive and effective communication with all departments within the organization.
- Serves as an educational resource for staff and organizational leaders.
4. Other Duties as Assigned
- Attends meetings as required and actively participates on committees as directed.

Qualifications
- 2 years RN experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BLS Certification. BLS Instructor within 3 months hire
- Good oral & written Communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational, time management, research & publication skills & public speaking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office systems.
- Current RN license by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and BLS Certification
