Overview :
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in the Cashion area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs, and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff.
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with a range of disabilities, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioral disorders.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies to support student learning and engagement.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection, and adjust instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes equity and access for all students.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies for supporting learning at home.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current on best practices in special education and enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, attendance, and behavior according to school and district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership to support the overall mission and goals of the school community.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid Arizona teaching certification in Special Education.
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting, preferably in a K-12 school environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills to address the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Commitment to cultural competence, equity, and inclusion, and a willingness to embrace and celebrate diversity in the school community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
