Mental Health Worker (PRN)

Job Description

Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed inpatient psychiatric stabilization unit within the Maguire Correctional Facility a county jail located in Redwood City, CA.

This unit exclusively serves adult inmates who are struggling with acute mental illness.

As a Mental Health Workers with Liberty Healthcare, you will fulfill a vital role and be responsible for :

• Establishing and maintaining positive therapeutic relationships with psychiatric patients
• Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups
• Monitoring patient activity and behavior
• Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu
• Safely addressing, deescalating and managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate interventions and techniques
• Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
• Collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, LCSWs, Registered Nurses and ancillary mental health workers
• Documenting services and patient’s progress in medical records

Mental Health Workers receive training and valuable resume-building mental health experience. As a Mental Health Worker with Liberty Healthcare, you’ll have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals who are struggling with mental illness.

Liberty is currently hiring for per-diem positions. You will work on an as needed / as available basis. You can expect to be paid $30.00 per hour.

Shift options include :

• PM shift from 2 : 45pm to 11 : 15pm
• Overnight (NOC) shift from 10 : 45 pm to 7 : 15 am

Skills & Requirements

You are a good fit for this position if you possess the following :

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field
• Experience serving people who have mental illness
• Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting or human services program
