Transportation Coordinator - AGING & DISABILITIES

Department : AGING & DISABILITIES

Pay : $48,399.00 annually.

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00am- 5 : 00pm, Some additional hours outside of regular schedule

Responsible for program decision-making, including planning, design, implementation, and administration of transportation mill levy and grant funds.

Conduct interviews and provide recommendations on hiring decisions. Supervise, train and evaluate staff. Manage daily operations of the transportation program.

Perform transit financial management, including grant budget development, reporting, and ongoing communication with funders, intra-department and vendors.

Seek new and obtain ongoing funding, including grant writing. Assist with review, and monitor vendor contracts.

Program Budget

  • Manage the Transportation budget, and make expenditure decisions for multiple funding streams; ensure billing and reporting is completed by deadlines.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports to finance, in accordance with established policies.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for CTD 9, KDOT grants, Wichita Transit and Older Americans Act (OAA).
  • Interpret Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) regulations, policies and procedures related to budget management, program compliance, and service provision.
  • Monitors vehicle maintenance schedules and makes sure that vehicles are maintained within budget and in accordance with regulations.

Program Management

  • Oversee services provided by the transportation program- staff and vendors- to ensure established policies, procedures and contract provisions are met.
  • Conduct evaluations of program and vendors to assess quality of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee training, random pool testing, MIS reporting, and monthly roster reporting of the Drug and Alcohol program for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with external partners and KDOT.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, and monitor contracts, policies, procedures, and grants to ensure compliance and adherence with state and / or federal financial and service provision guidelines.
  • Review, develop, and monitor vendor contacts.
  • Write grants for ongoing funding to ensure availability of resources and services to meet the transit needs in the community.
  • Act as a liaison to Fleet Management, ensuring processes, policies, and updates are conveyed to drivers, and communicate vehicle needs to Director of Fleet and Maintenance Foreman.

Staff Management

  • Oversee and direct the work of staff that coordinate, schedule and provide transportation services.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training and evaluation for of staff, and ensure staff are current on required trainings and certification in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications : Associate’s degree from an accredited university in Business, Public Administration or a related field.

Education may be substituted with experience, with two years of experience that provides applicable knowledge and skills.

One year of experience managing grant funds, program funds, or a related field. Two years of experience in data management or analysis.

Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.

Preferred Qualifications : Four years of experience in grant management, contract, or accounting experience. Three years of transportation experience.

Experience as a Transit Manager of Urban / Rural transportation. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, or related field.

Bilingual in English and a language other than English.
