Public Relations Specialist

Our client, an international PR agency, is seeking a freelance PR / Media Relations Specialist in LA / Santa Barbara to join their team for 10-15 hours per week ongoing or on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

Must-haves :

• Network of media contacts in luxury, fashion, lifestyle, travel, food & beverage industries
• Experience in securing earned media coverage in quality press outlets and delivering high-quality media hits for agency's luxury, fashion, lifestyle, travel and food & beverage clients.
• Willingness to attend in-person meetings, events, and media engagements.

Responsibilities :

• Proactively pitch story ideas, press releases, and news angles to top-tier media outlets, including print, broadcast, online, and social media platforms, ensuring maximum exposure for agency's clients.
• Manage relationships with stylists, including celebrity, fashion, and lifestyle stylists, to secure product placements, endorsements, and collaborations that align with agency's clients' brand image and target audience.
• Expand network by establishing new relationships with relevant media professionals.
• Craft compelling pitches, press releases, and other media materials that effectively communicate client stories and key messages to media professionals, influencers, and stylists, pitch ideas and negotiate earned media placements.
• Participate in weekly remote catchup calls and attend in-person meetings, events, and media engagements.
• Be a proactive problem solver, identifying challenges and opportunities in media relations efforts and adapting strategies as needed to achieve desired results.

Qualifications :

• 3+ years of Media Relations experience with a focus on luxury, fashion, lifestyle, travel and food & beverage brands and a strong network of media contacts
• Proven track record of securing earned media coverage in quality press outlets and delivering high-quality media hits.
• Results-driven with ability to think outside the box, juggle multiple client campaigns, prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, and deliver exceptional results amidst varying demands.
• Highly flexible, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines and deliver results.
• Proficient in PR reporting, analyzing and presenting data on PR activities, including media mentions and audience reach, conducting sentiment analysis and assess campaign effectiveness
• Expert in communications, time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks promptly, including media relations, email responses, and punctual meeting attendance.
• Ability to represent Agency and clients with professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Familiarity with the UK / London market is a plus
• Proficiency in media monitoring tools, PR software, and analytics platforms is a plus.
