Summary
The Operations Manager organizes and oversees the daily operations of Nautilus Logistics' Ship Supply and Logistics function.
This highly visible position will oversee revenue generation, productivity, cost control, staff development and customer satisfaction.
The position shall implement the priorities of management and its customers and maintain corporate policy and procedures.
The position will safeguard the reputation, employees and assets of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Ship Supply and Logistics function.
- Plan and monitor day to day running of operations to ensure customer service levels are met in an efficient manner and company objectives are met
- Supervise direct report employees and external contractors, providing feedback and coaching to facilitate their development
- Establish and modify as necessary operational policies and ensure their implementation
- Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures and systems and implement improvements
- Maintaining customer service levels including implementing actions to continually improve
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, e.g. customers, partners, vendors, agents, and internal stakeholders within the company
- Evaluate operational performance by collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
- Ensure operations team complies with the Company's Handbook and applicable laws, regulations and procedures including health and safety
- Assists with the development of the annual company budget and any forecasts
- Provide senior management with explanations for monthly variances to budget and takes corrective action where required
- Support senior management in business development activities
- Participates in all mandatory training requirements, as directed by federal, state, and local government agency directives and company guidelines.
- Approves purchase orders, supply requisitions and invoices within established scope of authority.
- Communicates closely with senior management regarding operational and commercial performance and priorities.
- Hires and terminates staff in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Handles staff grievances and complaints and performance issues; coordinates same with Human Resources, if applicable.
- Other duties and tasks as may be required from time to time to meet business requirements.

- Negotiates and secures agreements with customers, contractors and vendors.
- Participates in industry functions and attends meetings.
- Regular, predictable and reliable attendance.
- May work weekends and holidays.
Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent and minimum
- Bachelor's degree in business or Logistics, preferred.
- 5-7 years of proven experience as Operations Manager or equivalent in a supply and / or logistics company; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Ability to acquire TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card.
- Proven experience as Operations Manager or equivalent in a supply and / or logistics company
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Strong communication and people skills
- Problem solving abilities with a "can do" attitude
- Knowledge of relevant legal rules and guidelines
- Knowledge of operating procedures for supply and / or logistics businesses and industry best practices
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Working knowledge of supply and / or logistics industry software applications
- Valid driver's license.
