Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Managing Director / Practice Leader to lead our Project Advisory practice, one of our three critical practice areas.
Reporting directly to the COO, you will be at the forefront of our growth strategy, steering the practice toward new market opportunities, doubling revenues (currently at $45 million net), and assisting in expanding the 150 national person practice globally.
Strategic Leadership & Business Operations :
- Meet with the CEO quarterly to provide executive-level updates on budgets, backlogs, and other financial data.
- Develop and execute the overall strategy for the Project Advisory group, from budget planning to achieving and exceeding revenue and contribution margin goals.
- Identify growth opportunities, adapt to market changes, and develop innovative solutions to maintain a competitive edge.
- Oversee the development and implementation of strategic sales and marketing programs to drive new business, retain clients, and expand existing engagements.
- Lead senior management in establishing and achieving key objectives and results (OKRs), ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and business objectives.
- Build and nurture relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction and exploring cross-selling opportunities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of consultants, focusing on their career growth and promoting team engagement and collaboration.
- Delegate effectively, ensuring high-quality work and continuous professional development among team members.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in client engagements, delivering top-tier solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
- Establish and maintain high standards of quality control, ensuring the practice’s reputation for excellence and value.
- Act as the escalation point for resolving client, team member, or operational challenges.
Financial Performance & Growth :
- Drive the financial success of the practice, meeting or exceeding defined revenue targets and utilization goals.
- Develop financial models and analyses to support decision-making and client solutions.
- Ensure the practice operates efficiently, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee operations and contract management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Identify and assess new market segments, staying ahead of industry trends and competition.
- Support company growth through potential acquisitions, leading integration efforts to ensure seamless transitions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, construction management, or engineering field required; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience, with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role, including responsibility for financial performance and leading service-oriented teams in the construction professional services industry.
- Proven track record in a senior leadership role leading and expanding a practice or business unit within the construction project advisory consulting or related field.
- Strong background in business development, financial management, and team leadership.
- Expertise in developing and implementing strategic plans that drive growth and operational efficiency.
- Extensive knowledge of the Project Advisory consulting landscape, with a robust network of industry contacts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to think strategically and effectively translate strategy into executable actions.
- Strong crisis management and conflict mediation skills.
- Proven emotional intelligence to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
