Cook Properties is New York State’s largest owner and operator of manufactured housing communities. Our portfolio includes 100+ manufactured home parks totaling 7,000 pads.
We also own and manage 200,000+ square feet of commercial, retail, and office space, along with 2000 self-storage units.
Job Overview :
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be responsible for performing key accounting functions, including preparing financial reports, maintaining general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate is a team player who excels in a fast-paced environment, meets deadlines, and ensures the accuracy and compliance of financial data.
Key Responsibilities :
- Facilitate all aspects of accounts payable function
- Assist Accounts Receivable department with cash deposit process
- Work closely with Accounting Manager(s) to facilitate month end close for assigned properties
- Maintain various account reconciliations?
- Responsible for recording various journal entries
- Reconciling general ledger accounts
- Miscellaneous other accounting tasks
- Assisting in projects as they arise

Requirements
Qualifications :
- Associate degree or equivalent in accounting, bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in accounting
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, analytical skills
- Good data entry skills
- Working knowledge of invoices and other documents, ability to identify critical information to be entered on system
- Ability to reconcile, identify, research and resolve issues
- Demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Must be proficient in Excel and have general working knowledge of Word
- Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
