A Brief Overview

The COVID Clinic Specialist assists with Stormont Vail COVID operations. This role will be utilized to support COVID testing, treatment, result communication, and vaccination efforts.

The COVID Clinic Specialist role has the potential to expand to other Stormont Vail locations and outreach operations within the region.

Experience Qualifications

Providing vaccinations to patients. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Current licensure required in State of Kansas (or compact agreement state as applicable) for either role; RN, APRN, PA, MD, DO, PharmD, Paramedic, Podiatrist or Dentist.

What you will do

Prepares vaccination for administration according to manufacturer and SVH Pharmacy instruction. Maintains quality and medication handling standards during admixture, preparation, and transport of vaccine within the facility.

Maintains awareness of medication storage guidelines, including cold chain considerations. Communicates any recognized variations in handling and storage procedures to supervisor.

  • Administers specified medication intermuscular injection, and notes proper documentation.
  • Check patient in through electronic medical record. Initial contact with patient at site. Escorting patients to and from vehicles and patient rooms.

Weigh, measure and record patient. Answering the patient arrival phone using scripting as outlined.

  • Follow SVH algorithm for actions required on individuals screening positive, denying access to building while maintaining respect and dignity
  • Educating all who enter the facility on PPE expectations and validating the use of such.
  • Supply runner : Order and replenish supplies at work stations throughout the vaccine clinic setting.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to other members of the vaccination team. Available to answer questions and provide guidance on proper technique for vaccine preparation, storage, handling, administration, and monitoring.
  • Assists with orientation and competency validation for members of the vaccination team per instruction from site supervisor.
  • Performs duties utilizing sterile collection principles as per outlined process.
  • Assist nurse with transporting patient within the facility as needed, utilizing wheelchair as directed.
  • Screening of any visitors with patient.
  • Set up and remove temporary cones, signs, variable message boards, and safety barriers that show traffic where to drive.

Hold signs that tells traffic to stop or to proceed slowly. Be aware and vigilant of surroundings to spot safety hazards.
