Position : Manager, Strategic Sourcing-Consumer & Specialties

Location : North America USA Hoffman Estates, IL or Bethlehem, PA

Salary : $110,000 - $135,000 annually

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Capital / MRO / Services is responsible for providing global sustainable sourcing value through quality, operational excellence, and superior customer service at the lowest total cost.

The employee will manage annual purchasing requirements of $100M.

Responsibilities :

Primary Responsibilities

Develops Supply Chain strategy for capital equipment and MRO purchases in alignment with corporate goals, performance objectives, and customer expectations.

Facilitates diverse needs across multiple business units to best leverage corporate scale in bids and negotiations. Selects and utilizes third party procurement services where appropriate.

Leads corporate effort to seek out and source from the most economical suppliers / service providers, regardless of global region.

Emphasis is placed on vetting new and innovative sources in coordination with internal technical and commercial stakeholders.

Draft and negotiate contracts for equipment and services, with special focus given to clauses regarding performance payments / damages, warranties, and liability.

Systematically enforces build and shipping schedules, including close coordination with 3PL service providers.

Promote adherence to rigorous contractor environmental, health, and safety standards through contractual obligations and feedback loops involving on-site personnel.

Partner cross-functionally to oversee equipment and contractor performance and to resolve shortfalls to keep Minerals Technologies and its customers whole, financially and otherwise.

Special emphasis is given to root cause analysis and corrective action in cases of nonperformance.

Participates integrally in developing budgets for capital projects.

Analyze supply chain costs to identify underperforming areas and recommend improvements. Financial acumen is required, with emphasis on communication / reporting to Business stakeholders on P&L impacts.

Oversee special projects as needed Fleet Management, Corporate Credit Card Selection, and Telecommunications.

OE / Lean

The employee will actively participate in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes,

such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Qualifications : Education :

Education :

BA / BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with experience in capital oversight or an operational role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Minimum of five years’ experience in supply chain management.

Familiarity with safety and procedural best practices in SCM.

Experience with ERP system integrated environment.

Supply chain experience in capital spend on contractors and / or equipment. Working with construction and engineering companies is a plus.

Strong experience negotiating contract language.

Experience with international projects and supplier / contractors highly desired

Oracle E-Business Suite Applications desired. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft tools Word, Excel, and Access.

Experience in diverse functional roles.

Ability to lead cross-functional teams on short- or medium-term projects to achieve Company objectives.

Expertise of the Procure to Pay process cycle in a manufacturing environment including knowledge of requisitions, purchase documents, quotations, receiving, supplier management, and item management business processes.

Working knowledge of the accounting and manufacturing overlap processes.

Experience supporting a national, multi-site manufacturing business.

Strong knowledge of company practices, structure, policy and procedure or the ability to learn and retain quickly.

Knowledge of purchasing practices meeting SOX standards is desired.

Must have the ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

Good management, oral and written communication, interpersonal and general business skills required, along with strong mathematical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Alertness and agility in a fast-paced business environment is critical.

Travel :

Occasional domestic and international travel will occur.

Working Conditions :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to regularly conduct work in a controlled office environment, moving around the office as needed, sitting at a desk, using office equipment, including but not limited to a personal computer, fax machine, copier and telephone, read, write, listen, speak, and understand English, have the ability to work independently, be dependable and maintain confidential information, integrity and composure at all times.

Constant contact with individuals internal and external to the organization at all levels occurs via various methods of communication, including face-to-face discussions, electronic mail, phone calls, instant messaging, web meetings, written letters and / or faxes.

On an as needed basis, there will be exposure to plant areas, which include exposure to outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes.

The employee is expected to be self-directed, take initiative and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting.

Additionally, the employee is expected to be adaptable / flexible to changing work assignments, analytical, organized and detail-oriented, perform multiple tasks at once, compose correspondence and other documentation in a professional manner, express ideas constructively, actively listen to others, manage time effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines, learn and memorize procedures, display a cooperative attitude, read, understand and follow all company, job specific and safety policies / procedures, and attend / use all required training.
