Custodian

Job Summary :
The University of Charleston is looking for a responsible Custodian to maintain our facilities. We take pride in the external and internal appearance of the campus, so it is important for a Custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises.
The ideal candidate will have great physical endurance to cover a large space and also a keen eye for detail and attentiveness.
Overtime work is mandatory at times to keep up with the activities and events on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Including but not limited to cleaning, dusting, mopping, vacuuming carpet, cleaning restrooms, trash removal, window cleaning, and ensuring proper sanitation
- Care for building interiors, stairwells, and entrances
- Perform basic grounds work
- Attention to detail and carefulness
- Work with automated equipment
- Operate an automobile on and off campus
- Capable of lifting 40 pounds
- Half-day Saturday schedule rotation
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- High School diploma or GED is preferred but not required
- A skill in floor maintenance (stripping and waxing) is a plus
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively with the manager and associates
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Flexible, resourceful, willing to learn cross-train
- Good attendance is required
- Must be a team player
