Being Age 55 or Older is Good for The Environment! The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?

s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions).

This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff who are doing important work every day.

Qualifications :

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Developing and implementing communications programs / campaigns and preparing informational materials to support them.

OR BA / BS Degree in Public affairs, soil conservation, natural resources, journalism, and / or communications

• Valid State Driver?s license
• Experience required with MS Word
• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), digital photography, videography, and Social Media tools (Twitter, Hootsuite, Facebook).PowerPoint

Duties :

The incumbent will use specialized experience in communications practices and techniques to assist the lead state Public Affairs Specialist in planning / executing an effective public outreach information program throughout the state.

Activities will include but are not limited to, coordination of public participation activities and direct support of field office outreach / program delivery.

Note : This position has the option of working remotely however, will occasionally work in the office and attend outreach events as required.

• Encourage beginning and / or new farmers and ranchers with urban agriculture and how to apply for Farm Bill and / or Inflation Reduction Act financial assistance. 35%
• Assists state Public Affairs Specialist, State Office, and Field Offices in planning and executing outreach events focused on historically underserved customers, employee recruitment, and volunteer recruitment. 30%
• Uses agency-appropriate marketing materials to increase awareness of NRCS programs and services by presenting or educating producers and partners about contacting their local Service Center. 20%
• Help find and attend upcoming public events throughout Utah. 15%

Other :

• Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
• Travel Requirements : Some travel to Field Offices or Farms to gather information, visuals, and data to be used for stories and outreach.
• Overnight travel : Only as needed.
• Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
