POSITION SUMMARY : The Registered Nurse in the Youth Behavioral Health Unit provides high quality patient-centered care and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
They must maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while demonstrating knowledge of age-specific behavioral management practices.
Additionally, they will be responsible for promoting the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION : Must have a current Registered Nurse license and CPR certification. Training in PMT and de-escalation techniques within 6 months of hire.
COMPETENCIES : Must be able to communicate effectively in English, possess basic computer skills, and take swift and efficient action in emergency situations, including patient restraint.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs comprehensive assessments of patient condition and care needs, develops and revises individualized treatment plans, administers medications, documents the nursing process, practices autonomously, and actively participates in patient and family education.
The role also requires effective collaboration with the treatment team and the provision of psychotherapeutic treatment to patients.
Provides care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes.
