Blue Livin' Community Integration program provides individualized life skills training that promotes growth and independence to adults with mild developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Individuals are supported in exploring community-based integration activities that promote skill sets in areas of money management, transportation, self-care, socialization, pre-employment and more.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team for the current position of Life Skills Instructor.

The position is designed to educate and support our participants to fully develop life skills and become fully integrated in their community.

The essential duties include but are not limited to :

• Providing fun and engaging instructional group activities and life skills training in the community
• Develop participant's ISP goals, conduct daily observations, and report conclusions on agency assigned forms.
• Transport participants in agency passenger vans to designated locations (may include participant's homes)
• Seek out and coordinate trainings through local businesses and organizations that supply pathways for individuals to participate in life and employment skills trainings
• Support participants to participate in physical activities that promote feelings of contentment, enjoyment, confidence, and engagement with the world that enhance mental well-being
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must have the ability to walk / stand for long periods of time indoor / outdoor in all environments
• Have basic computer skills
• Own a Smartphone
• Be at least 25 years of age
• Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent (AA degree or higher preferred)
• Speak, read, and write well in English
• Have strong problem-solving skills
• Have a minimum of one year of verifiable experience providing instructional and training services to individuals with development and intellectual disabilities or have worked in classroom settings
• Have a valid First Aid / CPR Certification or the ability to obtain upon hiring
• Be able to pass an employment screening process
• Have a valid Driver's License
• Must have a Clean Driving Record
• Be able to pass TB test and health screening
• Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or the ability to obtain upon hiring
