WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Therapy Modalities Provides direct patient care in an office setting which may include spirometry, complete PFT, six-minute walk test, Alpha 1 testing, hemique testing as well as adjusting oxygen levels under the direction of a healthcare provider.
Makes recommendations to the provider on treatment plan as needed.
- Patient Education Educate patients and caregivers on oximetry testing, use of inhalers, peak flow, oxygen, and nebulizers.
- EHR Documentation Documents patient information such as vital signs, medications administered during testing and tests performed in the electronic health records (EHR) and other software programs.
- Authorizations Initiates and follows through on prior authorizations for inhalers and durable medical equipment.
- Equipment Maintenance Maintains and troubleshoots equipment to include calibration of spirometry, plethysmography box, and hemocue.
Downloads and cleans oximeters. Closes and cleans testing rooms and equipment. Documents information in logbooks. Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Required Associate's Degree
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association Required and
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Required or
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
