Job Title : Wellness Team Patient Programming and Research Coordinator

Job Summary :

The Wellness Team Patient Programming and Research Coordinator in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) will develop, plan, and implement programming for oncology and hematology patients.

The coordinator will also assist in the implementation of clinical research evaluating patient programming and other clinical interventions developed within the context of the CCBD Wellness Team.

This position will be a total of 1.0 FTE, with 0.75 allocated to patient programming and 0.25 allocated to clinical research support.

The coordinator will build upon and further develop psychosocial programming for CCBD patients across the age range, with a significant focus on adolescence.

The coordinator will also assist CCBD Wellness staff in implementing various clinical research projects. The coordinator will work directly with the Wellness Program Director who will oversee programming and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Continue existing programming for CCBD patients and families (e.g., Fall Pumpkin Patch Event, Teen Dinner & Movie Events, etc.).
  • Develop new programming for school-age and adolescent patients and families.
  • Create materials such as flyers, pamphlets, announcements, and annual reports for all psychosocial programming.
  • Serve as a contact for families seeking to engage in psychosocial programming.
  • Recruit CCBD staff and team members to assist / participate in psychosocial programming.
  • Serve as a liaison for community-based organizations seeking to provide psychosocial activities to CCBD patients and families.

This would include summer camps and other organizations sponsoring ski trips, summer travel, etc.

  • Assist in developing and implementing research approaches with members of the Wellness Team to assess the psychosocial impact of programming on patients and families.
  • Assist in developing and implementing novel psychosocial research projects with members of the Wellness Team to assess clinical intervention effectiveness, use of assessment measures to monitor patient coping and adjustment, staff coping, etc.

Work Location :

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience with program development.
  • Certified as a Child Life Specialist.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Development, or a related field.
  • 4+ years' experience as a Child Life Specialist with seriously ill children and their families, ideally children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders.
  • 4+ years' experience as a Child Life Specialist engaged in psychosocial program development for seriously ill children.
  • Experience assisting in research development and implementation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Intermediate-level skills with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple complex functions at once.
  • Willingness to exercise judgment and discretion and is comfortable making decisions independently.
  • General understanding of Academic Medicine.

Anticipated Hiring Range :

The starting hiring range for this position has been established as $61,546 to $78,287.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
