Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

Job Summary :
The person in this position will be assisting the Head Women’s Soccer Coach in running a successful Division 1, Big East Conference, Women’s Soccer Program.
Essential Functions :
Evaluate and recruit suitable student athletes that will be able to flourish in the St. John’s University Women’s Soccer Program.
Coach and mentor our student athletes on a year-round basis.
Help with game preparation which includes scouting report presentation of Fall and Spring opponents.
Assist with the training of our Program’s Leadership Committee.
Help our Associate Head Coach with team travel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies :
Ability to work effectively with student athletes, program staff, and the rest of the University.
Flexibility to be able to recruit both domestically and internationally.
Some knowledge of goalkeeping coaching is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility :
This position would supervise our Student Manager.
Work Environment :
This position operates in a professional office environment and on the soccer field.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand and perform duties on the soccer field including but not limited to running, skills work, passing, shooting.
Specific vision abilities required by the employee include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, etc.
Environmental Conditions :
The Women’s Soccer Office is in the Coaches Annex in Carnesecca Arena. As a result, the employee must be able to walk down steps to get to their office.
This position operates in a professional office environment and is expected to represent the university on the road when traveling and at functional events.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work, especially during the championship season.
Travel :
Travel is required as assigned by the Head Coach. Applicant should expect a high frequency of travel during the championships season and recruitment periods.
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree
Valid driver’s license
Background check required
Preferred Education and Experience :
Working knowledge of soccer video-editing software.
Extensive background in coaching high-level female soccer players.
Soccer coaching licenses / credentials

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $62,400. This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
