Position Overview :
They are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and scale their globally distributed engineering team. The successful candidate will drive technical strategy, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable products.

Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership : Lead, mentor, and grow a remote engineering team, fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Technical Strategy : Define and implement the technical vision and roadmap in alignment with the organization's mission and business goals.
- Product Development : Oversee the design, development, and delivery of the core platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, design, and operations to ensure the successful launch of features and improvements.
- Innovation : Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
- Quality Assurance : Establish processes for testing, monitoring, and deploying software, ensuring high standards for performance and quality.
- Partnerships : Collaborate with external partners, NGOs, and government bodies to tailor technical solutions that meet diverse user needs.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience (5+ years) in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in open-source software development and managing remote teams.
- Expertise in full-stack development (front-end, back-end, cloud infrastructure) with modern frameworks and technologies.
- Experience with agile methodologies and building scalable, high-availability systems.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Passion for using technology to drive social impact and an interest in civic technology, crisis response, or community-driven projects is a plus.
Preferred Skills :
- Familiarity with crowdsourcing platforms, GIS mapping, and data visualization tools.
- Experience in working within the nonprofit sector or with humanitarian projects.
