Position Summary & Responsibilities : Marketing and Graphic Design Intern
The Marketing and Graphic Design Intern will support the Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) unit by creating visually engaging infographic reports and graphics for the Kansas Labor Information Center (KLIC) and Today's Occupations, Tomorrow's Opportunities (TOTO) websites.
This internship offers a chance to gain experience in graphic design, content creation, and digital marketing while contributing to important labor market and career planning resources.
The intern will work closely with team members, using tools like Canva and the Adobe suite products, and assist with research and review tasks to ensure the quality and accuracy of content.
Responsibilities :
Graphic Design for KLIC and TOTO :
- Create and design graphic reports and infographics for the Kansas Labor Information Center (KLIC), including monthly data spotlights that highlight labor market information and data products.
- Assist with the development and design of graphic content for the Today's Occupations, Tomorrow's Opportunities (TOTO) website, including worksheets, guides, and graphics for various web pages.
This content will aid students and educators in career exploration and planning.
Research and Development :
Conduct research on career planning and exploration initiatives in Kansas and other states and use findings to help develop new content and design elements for TOTO.
Review and Quality Assurance :
Review graphic work completed by other members of the unit to ensure quality, clarity, and accuracy. Check language and data presentation for accuracy and clarity.
Marketing and Analytics Support :
Review statistics from Constant Contact email campaigns and Google Analytics data from the websites to gauge performance and impact.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :
- Preferably pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Experience with graphic design software such as Canva and / or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Microsoft Suite of Products specifically Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Basic understanding of email marketing and web analytics would be beneficial.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Strong visual design skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct research and translate findings into engaging content.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills to further enhance current report designs.
