We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President to join our SBIC Investments team. This role is located in New York City, NY - HYBRID.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways :

  • Oversee and manage BNYM's existing portfolio of investments in SBIC Funds. Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and principles
  • Responsible for pipeline of new investment opportunities in SBIC Funds and full due diligence cycle. Contribute to and enhance existing due diligence process for new SBIC investments
  • Review funds formation / investment documents and negotiate side letters for newly approved investments as required
  • Responsible for general portfolio oversight of SBIC investments, preparation of portfolio reviews, tracking of investments performance
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Fund Sponsors and banking peers. Represent BNY Mellon at industry trade conferences and limited partner advisory / board meetings
  • Keep up to date with SBIC investment market and relevant regulations
  • Assist in mentoring and development of junior team members

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following :

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA and / or CFA preferred
  • 10+ years of total work experience preferred and over 8 years of investment experience with lower middle market mezzanine and buyout funds is preferred
  • Knowledge of related regulations including (but not limited to) CRA, Volcker Rule, familiarity with SBA program is a plus
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Strong knowledge of lower middle market markets, willingness to expand knowledge where needed
  • Excellent communication skills. Track record of building and sustaining business / client relationships
  • Experience in coaching and developing team members

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $100,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment.

However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department / team performance, and market factors.
