The Pharmacy Technician Education Coordinator will work in collaboration with others in order to provide support for new hire orientation, new technician training and support for the ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program.

The tier 3 technician will work under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Education Director to provide pharmacy services.

The Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in providing Pharmaceutical Care. Specific job duties and responsibilities vary based on the location and type of pharmacy.

Routinely interacts with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, nursing staff and other hospital staff, Physicians, patients, customers, vendors, and drug company representatives.

What We Require :

Education : A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s Degree is preferred. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.

Experience : Two or more years of pharmacy technician work experience preferred.

Licensure, certification, and / or registration : Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required.

Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.

Other Minimum Qualifications :

• Must have great organization, time management, and communication skills
• Must be knowledgeable about pharmacy operations and curious about process improvement.
• Must be able to collaborate with other key stakeholders to continue to develop training materials and address education needs and opportunities.
• Must be able to maintain familiarity with large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail / accuracy.
• Must be customer service oriented.
• Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer / keyboard.
• Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently, and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
• All Technicians must complete Orientation Competencies.
