DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.
  • Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Work in collaboration with area agency partners to ensure the proper and timely enrollment and placement of all children, including the transition of children from birth-3 programming into early childhood, maintaining compliance with IDEA regulations.
  • Act as mediator / advocate for families having school-related issues when required. Consult with parents, teachers and other school personnel to determine appropriate actions to impact solutions.
  • Completes annual staff evaluations of Early Childhood program staff, both certified and non-certified.
  • Evaluates program quality through the use of a variety of quality rating tools (example Classroom Assessment Scoring System-CLASS and / or the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale 3-ECERS 3).
  • Coordinates and monitors the implementation of the ISBE Family Engagement Framework and additional family engagement activities per funder requirements.
  • Provides supervision and support to Family Support / Resource Specialists engaged in Family Case Management through the monitoring of data reports, file reviews, and ongoing administrative and reflective supervision.
  • Develop procedures and maintain systems for the collection, analysis, and reporting of family engagement data per funder requirements.
  • Provides at least 1 hour of individual reflective supervision monthly to each Family Support / Resource Specialist.
  • Supervises the planning, implementation and evaluation of family and community events.
  • Coordinates and facilitates ongoing job embedded professional development for certified teachers and Family Support / Resource Specialists.
  • Assist Early Childhood administrators in the planning and preparation of professional development opportunities.
  • Work with community stakeholders to secure locations for ongoing child find efforts.
  • Participate in the initiation and preparation of grant proposals.
  • Assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the supervisor. The supervisor may make adjustments in the scope and responsibilities outlined above, which will be in the best interest of the Early Childhood Program and the school district.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field
  • Professional Educator License with endorsements / approvals in Early Childhood and General Administrative
  • Special Education, or English as a Second Language endorsement preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Family Support and Parenting Education : Administrator is knowledgeable of strength-based family support and parenting education approach to support the growth of parents’ capacities through research-based methods and principles.
  • Child and Family Development : Administrator is knowledgeable about child development birth-age 5, and experienced in working with young children, children with disabilities and in fostering positive parent child interactions.
  • Human Diversity within Family Systems : Administrator demonstrates respect for diverse needs and characteristics of families and understands the influence of varied family systems, culture, and socioeconomic status on child-rearing practices and school readiness.
  • Relationships between Families and Communities : Administrator is knowledgeable of building partnerships, connecting parents to supports, and fostering parent engagement and leadership in schools and other community organizations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and have substantial knowledge of data collection and analysis.
  • Reflective Practice : Administrator is knowledgeable of the essential features of the reflective supervisory relationship : reflection, collaboration, and regularity of occurrence.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

This is a 10 month position.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS :

Applicant is expected to perform at the highest level of performance, representing the District and Early Childhood Department in a courteous, efficient manner.
