Job descriptionJob OverviewThe Cost Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining cost data for complex construction and renovation projects, supporting program initiatives across terminal development, service improvements, and asset renewal.
The role involves preparing detailed cost reports, maintaining cost control systems, and analyzing budget performance to support efficient project delivery.
ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage project budgets within large-scale programs, ensuring expenditures align with approved allocations.
Review and validate contractor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and proper account allocation.Prepare job costing reports, ensuring consistency in allocating expenditures to Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) codes.
Perform detailed cost-to-complete analyses, considering staffing plans, contract commitments, expenditures, change orders, and trend data.
Participate in project meetings, providing up-to-date financial reporting and forecasts.Develop comprehensive progress reports and materials, using innovative tools to illustrate complex sequencing and progress.
Validate and monitor task orders to confirm budget and contract alignment, updating project management systems as needed.
Conduct bid award, change order, and task order analyses and reconcile with project budgets.Use cost management software (e.
g., Prolog) for tracking contract commitments, expenditures, budget transfers, and trends.Coordinate with project governance bodies to ensure budget amendments are approved and documented.
Support project closeout by ensuring complete and accurate financial data for final reporting.Prepare data for journal vouchers for internal budget transfers as required.
SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.Experience with large-scale cost reporting systems (Prolog experience preferred).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying technical data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
5-10 years of cost engineering experience, ideally in construction projects within aviation or similarly complex environments.
