Role Overview

This is an important role for an Engineering Technician that likes hands-on work designing, analyzing, building, and testing tools for a production floor.

Candidate should understand SMT terminology. This person should be knowledgeable of electronic manufacturing. The candidate must have experience with tooling, prototyping, mechanical assembly, testing and data collection.

We have a number of new-to-the world products that enable the lighting industry to create amazing architectural fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

The SMT Tooling Technician will be responsible for a sequence of tooling and automation projects. The candidate will need to use a variety of mechanical and electronic tools, and will receive training to run, program, and maintain SMT equipment (paste printer, pick and place, AOI, reflow, conveyors).

After training, the operator will also be expected to occasionally setup and program jobs, as well as trouble shooting and repair.

Job Description :

Duties include daily interaction with engineering department members, production supervision, and during projects, production personnel.

Responsibilities will vary and it is expected this individual will be trained to operate and maintain a variety of equipment while creating new improvements to the production lines.

This person must be capable of completing tasks and achieving goals with minimum supervision.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical tool and component fabrication
  • Experience testing and maintaining records
  • Computer (Windows)
  • Knowledge of ESD procedures
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Mechanical tooling / fixtures for production use
  • Electronic component recognition
  • Simple electronic testing (DVM, etc..)
  • Ability to recommend future automation systems and participate in growth planning
  • Equipment installation
  • MS Word and Excel (basics)
  • Parts database (BOM) software user
