Job Description
We are looking for inspectors in and around the area for the inspection of industrial material and equipment.
The Inspector will be assigned to a variety of industrial projects related vendor / shop inspections or vendor surveillance including QAQC inspections during the fabrication of various equipment and machines.
Typically, the inspections would require visual / physical inspection, witness of testing, review of QA / QC documentation including MTRs.
Each inspection completed would require inspector issuing a report of findings within the specific time limit.
The Inspector will be required to sign an independent contractor agreement / sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc.
Work will be assigned on as needed basis and will be paid for the hours / days and other applicable cost items for the hours / days spent on the assigned work.
The work duration could be a day or several days or several weeks.
Each time an inspection is completed an invoice with a time sheet is expected to pay the inspector for the completed job.
Normal payment terms of the contract is 15 to 20 days after receipt of invoice.
Qualifications
- Candidate will be qualified and certified to meet applicable Industrial Standards and codes.
- Candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience around fabrication inspection of fixed and / or rotating machinery and equipment such as pressure vessel / heat exchangers, welded / bolted structures, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps / compressors and, Turbines and general mechanical industrial equipment.
- Candidate will be familiar and have experience with the welding process and type of equipment being used on the Project (GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, PAW, SMAW, SAW).
- Candidate will have experience with mechanical testing of welds ( tensile tests, bend tests, charpy V-notch tests, hardness tests, etc.)
- Candidate will have experience with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), Procedure Qualification Reports (PQRs), Welder Performance Qualifications in accordance with ASME Section V and Section IX.
- Welding inspectors must be certified as an American Welding Society CWI, CSA (Level 2 or 3), CSWIP certified welding inspector or Company approved equivalent.
- Candidate will be proficient at interpretation of fabrication drawings. Must have excellent understanding of welding, weld symbols, and weld inspection per AWS and ASME
- Candidate will be familiar with the post weld heat treating requirements of ASME
- Candidate will be certified to ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II or approved equivalent for MT, PT, and RT (interpretation).
- It is desirable for Candidate to have experience with the welding of austenitic stainless steels for cryogenic service.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Depending on educational qualification, trainings / certification and experience the pay range will be $30 to $45 per hour.
Mileage for round trip driving will be reimbursed at cost. For extended traveling when needed all expense items will be reimbursed at cost against receipts.
