Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive liberal arts college on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, invites applications for a College Laboratory Technician for the Music Department.
The Music Department offers the B.A. in Music, the B.Mus. in Music Performance, the M.A. in Music, and the M.A. in Music Teacher Education, in addition to offering music courses to satisfy general education and degree requirements across the college.
The department is currently comprised of 20 full-time faculty, a full-time CLT, an administrative associate, an office assistant, and several adjunct faculty and graduate teaching fellows.
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Music, the College Laboratory Technician (CLT) will perform highly skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework and instruction in the Music Department.
Duties include but will not be limited to :
- Manage the sound and recording at all Music Department concerts and events.
- Install and maintain equipment in Music Department classrooms; purchase of additional equipment and supplies as needed.
- Assist instructors in advising students on how to use music software and other technical features, provide troubleshooting support, and remove equipment after classes.
- Manage instrument rentals for music classes and performances.
- Supervise two CAs hired part-time to assist the Music CLT with technical duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement : an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with education and experience ($54,222 $62,277).
